About

Hi friend-

Nice to meet you (if only through a screen!)

If we were face to face, I’d greet you with a smile. I really do like meeting new people, so I hope you know you’re welcome.

I’m from Texas originally, but have been living in Los Angeles and working in Hollywood for the last five years. My first job was working as a horse-wrangler, my last job was working for a company that owns a movie studio. Somewhere in between there I was acting. Sometime after that I decided I like to write words instead. So it goes.

When I’m in the city, I miss the country and when I’m in the country, I miss the city. I write about both. Mainly I like to write about the things I wonder about. Mainly the things I wonder about are God and people and love. Sometimes these topics come out as poems. Sometimes they come out as prose. I’m looking forward to using this space to get better at both.

I do happen to have a life-long love. His name is Grant, and we’ve been married for five years. He’s taught me to laugh and let go and garden and ask better questions. I really am so grateful to experience life alongside him.

When I’m not writing, I’m probably planning some event for my church or finding a way to bring friends around a table. Somehow I feel more myself when I’m spreading the welcome mat and inviting people together. I think gathering community reflects gospel truth, and I’m working to be a little better about how this looks in my life day by day.

I also like hiking and good wine and traveling and worship. Late night walks and early morning whispers and taking time to read fiction. I like big ideas and connecting with fellow dreamers and doers. I like caramel. I like Christmas. I like anything that brings people together and lets them leave feeling a bit more like family.

Regardless of their imperfections, I hope the words you read here feel like a conversation with a friend. Like a bit of encouragement in a weary world. Like you’ve found a place to sit and belong. Writing them brings breath to my life, and I can only pray they breathe a bit to your soul as well.

Welcome to the table.
